About this Archive

The Demoscene is a worldwide community of coders, artists, and musicians who create real-time audiovisual art - demos, intros, music, graphics, and more - pushing hardware to its limits. It is a subculture born from the early home computer era that continues to thrive today.

Every year, the Demoscene hosts parties around the globe where sceners meet, socialize, and compete in various competitions. These demoparties are the heartbeat of the scene: places where friendships form, productions are released, and coding as a form of art is celebrated.

For now 30 years, the highlight of the year has been the easterparty - the demoparty happening on the easter weekend, traditionally in Germany. It has grown into the biggest, most professional, and most anticipated demoparty of all, drawing major demogroups from around the world.

Timeline
1996 Symposium - the first easterparty, held near Hamburg
1997–2002 Mekka & Symposium - Bad Fallingbostel becomes the easter home
2003–2010 Breakpoint - the legendary years in Bingen am Rhein
2011–today Revision - the E-Werk in Saarbrücken, still going strong

This archive exists because this history matters. Websites go offline, links break, and memories fade. My mission is to preserve as much of this rich history as possible so that future sceners and anyone curious can explore and appreciate what the easterparty has been and continues to be.

I'm borg^tonleben, attending easterparties since Breakpoint 2008. Data fascinates me, and so does its preservation, so I naturally end up archiving everything from small memories to even scanned party wristbands.
